Two ABN Amro employees found dead; Police investigate possible link

Police are probing a potential link between the death of a woman found last week in an Amsterdam residence and another woman discovered Monday evening in a parking lot near the station in Nieuw-Vennep, Noord-Holland. According to ABN Amro, both women were employees of the bank.

A bank spokesperson said, “This is shocking and very sad. Our thoughts are with the families.” The police emphasize that, at this stage, the two deaths are being investigated separately.

The police stated on Tuesday that they suspect a crime in the case of the woman found in Nieuw-Vennep. For the woman discovered in a residence on Koninginneweg in Amsterdam Oud-Zuid, authorities have not yet confirmed whether a crime was involved. Her body had been found last Thursday.

Dispatchers sent paramedics and police to the parking lot off Venneperweg near the bus and train station in Nieuw-Vennep just before 7:45 p.m. on Monday. A medical trauma team was dispatched soon after. Police spent a considerable amount of time at the scene.

Last Thursday night, police officers also spent hours investigating an unnatural death at a home on Koninginneweg in the Oud-Zuid neighborhood in Amsterdam. They were joined by forensic investigators. It has not been disclosed if the woman was already dead before police arrived.

An ABN Amro spokesperson told AD that the company is in shock. “These were two highly valued colleagues. Support has been offered right away to their coworkers.”
