Three-alarm fire at Northeast Portland church, two missing

A three-alarm fire burned at the Word and Spirit Church on Northeast Stanton Street and 62nd Avenue early Sunday morning, according to Portland Fire & Rescue.

Firefighters said two people are missing and they can’t get inside the building because it’s unstable.

The blaze spread to a second structure, firefighters said.

According to the battalion chief, the fire started in the gym area and firefighters were able to save the sanctuary.
