Power outage at Schiphol Airport; Impact on air traffic unclear

After six days of mass cancellations, Schiphol Airport faced another setback on Thursday morning. A power outage hit the airport. The extent of the problems and how they will affect air traffic are not yet clear.

Reports from the airport indicated the issue was only affecting Departures Hall 2 and the check-in area there, but the airport was still trying to determine what happened and any impact it would have on Thursday morning’s operations. We are verifying internally what’s going on,” a Schiphol spokesperson told NL Times.

According to reporters at the scene, all screens at the airport are black, and long lines are forming. Travelers also seem to be having problems checking into their flights. “They’re using terminals that don’t seem to have any power. Whether that’s actually the case everywhere is unclear,” one reporter told NH Nieuws.
