‘Glee’ Star Matthew Morrison Joins Broadway’s ‘Just in Time’ for Limited Run as Bobby Darin

Another former Glee star has joined Just in Time on Broadway.

On Thursday morning, it was announced that Matthew Morrison would join the production as Bobby Darin, the legendary singer-actor, in the jukebox musical that follows the singer’s life throughout his rise, for a three-week engagement beginning April 1.

Morrison made his debut on Broadway in Footloose in 1998. He also portrayed heartthrob Link Larkin in the hit Hairspray in 2002 and was later nominated for a Tony Award for his role in 2005’s The Light in the Piazza. His additional credits include A Naked Girl on the Appian Way (2005), South Pacific (2008), and Finding Neverland (2015).

And on TV, he’s best known for playing high school teacher Will Schuester from 2009-2015 in Ryan Murphy’s musical series Glee. The role earned him an Emmy nomination in 2010 and two Golden Globe noms in 2010 and 2011.

“Our show is made to fit like a glove around all kinds of virtuoso performers.  I’m thrilled to get back in there and tailor the material so it’s personal to Matthew Morrison, his journey, his many talents, and to welcome him back home to Broadway where he belongs,” said co-book writer Isaac Oliver in a statement.

After Morrison’s turn, Jeremy Jordan is taking over the role on April 21.

The role of the 1950s singer originated in the Broadway production by Jonathan Groff, who earned a Tony nomination last year. Groff sets his final performance on March 29.

Just in Time is playing at Circle in the Square Theatre.
